Every time I take a picture of a child in Mozambique, they immediately snap into some sort of strange pose
It's usually karate, or some attempted rendition thereof
For the life of me, I don't know why
And if it's not karate, it's usually a serious face or some type of salute
Although sometimes they break character
So why do we Americans feel the need to make a smile in every photo that we take? Why is that our automatic response?
Why don't we do this instead?
I guess it's because a smile....
...of any size or type...
.... is one of the most beautiful things in the world
Smile! (English) --- Sorria! (Portuguese) --- Seca! (Nhungwe)
