Every time I take a picture of a child in Mozambique, they immediately snap into some sort of strange pose |
It's usually karate, or some attempted rendition thereof |
For the life of me, I don't know why |
And if it's not karate, it's usually a serious face or some type of salute |
Although sometimes they break character |
So why do we Americans feel the need to make a smile in every photo that we take? Why is that our automatic response? |
Why don't we do this instead? |
I guess it's because a smile.... |
...of any size or type... |
.... is one of the most beautiful things in the world |
Smile! (English) --- Sorria! (Portuguese) --- Seca! (Nhungwe)
